"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
(John 3:16)

Sandra, our former Secretary of Women's Fellowship, became a Senior Soldier in The Salvation
Army fifteen years ago after having been raised a Roman Catholic and then having gone
her own way for many years. Her husband, Jim, was the "boy next door". She is a mother and
grandmother; she has spent 25 years working in real estate administration. But the most
important thing she has to share is her walk with the Lord.
Here it is in Sandra's own words:
In 52 years, I have experienced many facets of life. The journey has been turbulent and
I've learned to trust God to bring me through the valleys, to be grateful, as well as
thankful for the mountains.
Some of the detours that I encountered are a broken
home, being married at the age of 16, having three children before I turned twenty,
having a father, husband and son recognizing themselves as alcoholics, dealing with police,
courts and jails. This journey also includes losing a child, the death of both parents,
losing my home and financial security.
"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you
are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." -Psalm 23:4
When I look back over the years, I know that God has been with me. These experiences
are now used to encourage, share, counsel, listen and love others who are in their valleys
and need help to see that the Son does shine on the mountain tops.
I now have the joy of sharing my life with a very loving and sober husband and, of course,
words cannot express the pleasure, love and wonderment that come from sharing your life
with your grandchildren. I have been blessed and encouraged by the ladies of our Corps
this past year as I took on the leadership of Women's Fellowship.
Now that we are entering a new year, I want to thank God for His gift of Grace and
Forgiveness He has given to me and I pray for Peace and Health in the coming year for my
family and our Corps family.
